It was recently announced that NXT will hold a tag team tournament to honour the late great Dusty Rhodes.

It wasn't originally announced who would be teaming with who, but one team is now expected to take their feud to a whole other level.

NXT Champion Finn Balor is set to team with Samoa Joe in the tournament in what could prove to be a prelude to something bigger.

Ever since arriving in NXT, everyone has expected Joe to make a run at the Championship but it now seems the tag team tournament is the beginning of that run.

Joe and Balor will be teaming together and will reportedly not work out as a tag team due to an inability to work together in the ring.

The latest rumours claim that this will lead to friction between them and begin a feud between two of the biggest superstars in NXT.

A Joe vs Balor feud will surely be beneficial for NXT and will whip the NXT Universe into a frenzy with two face characters feuding over the title.

Filling the void

While Joe vs Balor will be a great feud with two of the biggest names in NXT, it can also be seen as just a space filler while they wait for many big names to return.

Sami Zayn and Hideo Itami are both out injured right now and have been for a long time, each is NXT Championship material and NXT is certainly missing something with them gone.

While Zayn and Itami are out injured, Kevin Owens' presence on the main roster leads everyone to believe that his appearances on the show are now numbered.
