Record breaker

If the deal goes through, he will become Manchester City's record signing after the £49m transfer of Raheem Sterling earlier this summer and will also be the second highest transfer in English football after Di Maria's £59m switch to Manchester United last summer.

De Bruyne didn't quite make a name for himself during his spell with Chelsea, however since his move to the Bundesliga, he has undoubtedly lived up to his potential after spending two seasons with Wolfsburg and broke the record for the most assists in the Bundesliga last season.

A star amongst stars

If Manchester City complete the signing of De Bruyne, he'll become one of many star players at the club. The Belgian was the main man at Wolfsburg, however he will now be competing against the likes of Jesus Navas, Raheem Sterling, Samier Nasri and David Silva if he is to fight for a first team spot.

De Bruyne will face big change having to fight for a place at Manchester City, but will this added competition bring the best out of the midfielder?

Title contenders

Manchester City now look huge title contenders after winning their first three games without conceding a goal, and after the signings of Sterling, Fabian Delph and Nicolas Otamendi with the addition of De Bruyne; City look the team to beat this year.
