Manchester United haven't bid for Neymar or Ronaldo

Published 1 Comments

Manchester United have not bid for either of Cristiano Ronaldo or Neymar this summer, according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.

As reported by Sky Sports, Balague has, however, suggested that the Red Devils were willing to splash the cash on Welsh wizard Gareth Bale, but were quickly rebuffed in their attempts to bring him back to English soil.

Of course, with just days remaining in this transfer period, the United hierarchy could yet add to the squad, but it's seemingly unlikely that they will sign the likes of Bale, Neymar or Ronaldo.

In a question and answer session ahead of Tuesday's transfer deadline, Balague stated: "This summer Manchester United were willing to pay a huge amount for Bale but learnt quickly he was not going anywhere.

"They have not bid for Cristiano (even though they have always said they have the finances for it) or Neymar. Fascinating stuff what is behind the Neymar rumours..."

One more deal

There's no doubt about it, United, despite having already secured five signings this summer, could do with adding one more player to their ranks sooner rather than later.

Ultimately, the Red Devils appear to be short up front. They have Wayne Rooney, who was in terrific form in mid-week against Club Brugge, but it's clear for all to see that the club need a world-class name to star alongside him.

At the end of the day, if the club are serious about overhauling Chelsea at the summit of the Premier League and proving their credentials on the European scene, then they're going to need to possess a top-class forward line.
