The Washington Redskins are an NFL franchise who are in real trouble with not a whole lot of sense seemingly working its way around.

There are always questions about the team and they are never really expected to make a major impact on the field.

Choice made

The biggest question around the team this pre-season has been the status of quarterback Robert Griffin III and if he will earn the teams starting spot?

RGIII came into the league with a lot of potential but some serious injuries have hampered his progress and made it incredibly unlikely that he will ever live up to the hype that once preceded him.

Kirk Cousins has done about as good a job as anyone could with the Redskins in his absence but everyone is curious who will win the battle between the two this year?

Well a recent injury put RGIII into more doubt but he was reportedly declared fit to return this week despite that decision now having changed.

Sources have claimed that Cousins is actually set to become the starter in Washington with the team reportedly set to chose their former backup for the week one game against the Miami Dolphins.

Cousins has had an impressive pre-season having thrown 245 yards so far in the opening two games.

Whether Cousins is the man to lead the Redskins when they welcome the Dolphins in the regular season opener remains to be seen, but it looks likely that he will be the man under centre.

The Redskins have come under a lot pressure this off-season with many fans seeming frustrated and many rival fans poking fun at their offensive line.

The Redskins find themselves in a difficult spot with the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles both sharing their division.

Hopes of the team reaching the play-offs next season are limited but anything can happen in the NFL.
