Manchester United have confirmed Jonny Evans has joined West Bromwich Albion on a permanent transfer, bringing an end to his 11-year association with the Red Devils.
West Brom have agreed to pay £6 million for the Northern Irish centre-back - potentially rising to £8 million depending on what he achieves at the Hawthorns - and manager Tony Pulis hailed the signing on the Baggies’ official website last night.
"This is a great signing for the club,” Pulis commented. "Jonny brings a lot of experience and will be a big player for us - he's a player I've been watching for some time. We are delighted to have him on board."

Manchester United, meanwhile, tweeted: “Good luck to Jonny Evans from everyone at #mufc following his permanent move to West Bromwich Albion.
“Evans made his #mufc debut in 2007 and played 198 games, winning three Premier League titles, two League Cups and the Club World Cup.”

Evans failed to convince Van Gaal
Evans, who turns 28 in January, endured a tough season under Louis van Gaal last term and failed to convince the veteran Dutch coach of his qualities.
He played the full 90 minutes in last season’s humiliating 4-0 defeat to MK Dons in the Capital One Cup third round and, like the majority of his teammates who also played in that match, the writing was on the wall for the central defender from that moment onwards.
United fans react on Twitter
While the majority of Manchester United fans wished Evans well for the future, a large number took to Twitter to express their joy with the club’s latest sale.
Here are some of the best tweets.
Evans excited by West Brom challenge
Evans now has a chance to resurrect his career with West Brom, who will be aiming for a top-half finish under Pulis this term.
It’s a great signing for the Baggies and Evans is looking forward to getting started after the international break.
"I hope to push the Albion up the League," Evans said. "It's a new, fresh challenge for me. One I'm looking forward to.
"I know a few of the lads already and I spoke to a couple, who highly recommended the club."
