Manchester United could make a shock move for Swansea City striker Bafetimbi Gomis before the summer transfer window closes on Tuesday.
This is according to Wales Online - citing a report from the Sun on Sunday - who claim Gomis is on the radar of several Premier League clubs due to his impressive start to the season and his £7 million release clause.
Gomis has already scored three goals in three Premier League appearances for Swansea City ahead of this afternoon’s clash against Manchester United at the Liberty Stadium, and an impressive showing against the Red Devils could tempt Louis van Gaal to make a move for the 30-year-old.

But it’s safe to say not all Manchester United fans will be impressed if Gomis is the striker Van Gaal opts for.
The France international might be going through something of a purple patch at the moment, but he’s hardly a reliable goalscorer. Last season he netted seven in 31 matches for Swansea, while in 239 games for Lyon he scored an average 91 goals.
Gomis is not the striker United need
Van Gaal, though, is on the lookout for a striker who will be content to spend time on the substitutes’ bench behind Wayne Rooney in the pecking order.
The likes of Saido Berahino and Alexandre Pato - from West Brom and Corinthians, respectively - have been linked with moves to Old Trafford in recent weeks and either of those strikers would arguably suit Manchester United better than Gomis.
United already have a similar player to Gomis in the form of Marouane Fellaini, who Van Gaal confirmed last week could be handed a chance to impress as a No. 9 this season, so it would be a big surprise if the French striker ends up at Old Trafford this week.
