According to Marcus Christenson, football editor of the Guardian, the England youth star is close to completing a season long loan deal with Italian side Napoli after completing his medical.
Chalobah has been at Chelsea since 2005 but is yet to make an appearance for the first-team. The 20-year-old has been loaned out on numerous occasions and is in line for his sixth loan switch.
Following spells at Watford, Nottingham Forest, Middlesbrough, Burnley and Reading where he made 97 appearances and scored nine goals a loan switch to Serie 'A' will be a completely new challenge for the midfielder.
The Sierra Leone born player has gained quite a reputation at Chelsea but is still some way off breaking into the first-team, and with the emergence of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Chalobah has been pushed even further down the ranks at Stamford Bridge.
Napoli are currently plying their trade in the Europa League and it will give the England under-21 star a chance to test himself at a higher level than before.
However, if his failed loan spell in the Premier League with Burnley is anything to go by, he may struggle to break into the first-team in Naples.
