The Internet Wrestling Community has been consumed with the fact that Nikki Bella is close to breaking AJ Lee's Divas Championship reign record as of late, but it seems that the focus could be on the wrong Champion in WWE.
This weekend #ThingsBetterTheNikkisReign was trending with WWE fans venting their frustration at the fact that Nikki was about to break the record when they felt she didn't deserve it, especially with new speculation that John Cena is the reason she is still champion.
CM PUNK'S REIGN TO BE BROKEN?
The thought was that WWE wanted to erase AJ Lee's name from the record books, but really WWE doesn't have that much of an issue with AJ anymore, they have an issue with her husband and if anything, they would want his 434 day reign record broken.

If anything, current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins would be the prime candidate. He is 154 days into his first title reign and with Sting on the horizon, it doesn't seem like it could happen, but with WWE anything is possible.
WWE allowing Seth Rollins to face Sting in three weeks time just proves how much faith they have in their current champion. Plus the fact that he has already made history by being the first person to hold both the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and the United States Championship at the same time.
If Seth Rollins was to break CM Punk's record, he would have to hold the title until June 6th 2016 which is a Monday. This would make for a lot of tension and would allow him to be defeated just a day longer than CM Punk.
June 6th was also just days after the date in 2014 that Seth Rollins turned on his fellow Shield stable mates and joined The Authority. Yes this could be a weird coincidence, but at the same time it could also be a fantastic coincidence.
This would mean that Seth would have to hold the title for another 280 days and with fans already claiming that his title reign has become boring, that means WWE would need to step their plans for the current champion.
The fact that Rollins now has two championships means that he can now defend the United States Championship instead of the world title and much like when there were two championships, the focus could be more on the US title than the World title until Rollins finally makes it over the line.
This is just a thought, but it could be what WWE is planning and with AJ Lee's record all but broken, WWE could have their sights set on a bigger record.
