Manchester United have no interest in signing Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid, according to reports.
The French international has been in electrifying form since joining the Spanish side from Real Sociedad and has managed 23 goals in 39 league games to date.
The Red Devils are open to the possibility of making a late swoop for a top target before the window shuts having missed out on the likes of Neymar, Thomas Muller and Gareth Bale - and Griezmann certainly fits the bill.
According to the Telegraph this morning Manchester United could sign Griezmann before the transfer window closes at 6pm this evening if they trigger the Atletico Madrid star’s £46.1 million release clause.
United boss Louis van Gaal is said to have a “long-standing” interest in the France international and may have been looking to make his move.
However the Guardian's Manchester reporter Jamie Jackson insists there's no plans amongst the powers that be at Old Trafford to swoop for the talented 24-year-old as it stands. He tweeted this afternoon: "#mufc have indicated no interest in Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann..."
That means the £36 million signing of Anthony Martial from Monaco could be the club's only piece of business on deadline day.
The French youngster is said to have completed his medical and will be announced as a Manchester United player shortly and there aren't expected to be any more incomings. There could be more to leave however, with James Wilson set to go out on loan before the window shuts.
It has also been confirmed that David de Geal will stay with Manchester United until January at least after his move to Real Madrid collapsed.
