Hello Arsenal fans and welcome to your daily round-up of all the latest news from the Emirates.

It was a bitterly disappointing transfer window for the Gunners, with only Petr Cech signing for the club.

Understandably many fans are miffed at Wenger's inability to sign players this summer, however life goes on and it is time for the players on the pitch to do the talking.

HENRY DEFENDS WENGER

Thierry Henry has leapt to the defence of Arsene Wenger after the Gunners failed to bring any new players in on transfer deadline day.

Arsenal made just one signing throughout the window, as Petr Cech arrived from Chelsea. They were linked with moves for Karim Benzema and Edinson Cavani but nothing materialised.

However Henry has said it was not a case of Wenger not wanting to sign players, more the fact he could prize them away from their current clubs.

As per Sky Sports, he said: "I do not know if the boss wanted Benzema or not, but the player must also want to come. What are you going to offer to the guy who is playing for one of the best teams in the world, knowing that he is playing there week in, week out, and performing well?

"So I do not think that Arsene did not want to bring any other players - that would have been another story if he had really said: 'I do not want to bring in any other players.' But he said that if it can be done, then I will try to bring someone.

"But how do you get Benzema from Real Madrid when he plays there and Cavani also from Paris Saint-Germain - he scored again at the weekend? It is a difficult one.

REJECTED CAVANI

In other news, the Mirror are reporting that Wenger in fact turned down the chance to sign PSG forward Cavani.

Arsenal were offered the chance to sign the Uruguayan, but apparently did not want to pay the £50 million quoted for a 28-year-old.

Reportedly the Gunners were aware that Cavani, who turns 29 later this season, would have no sell-on value.

OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN ADVICE

And finally, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has revealed Thierry Henry put him in a headlock and gave him some valuable advice before a game against Man United in 2012.

The England winger said Henry grabbed him and told him to make sure "you are 100 per cent with your belief in your abilities".
