The Spanish World Cup winner was expected to join the Red Devils after deciding to leave the Camp Nou, but opted for a move to Chelsea instead after it became clear that Jose Mourinho was interested in securing his services.
There were rumours that Pedro had decided to join Chelsea over Manchester United following a chat with Valdes, who was involved in a high-profile bust-up with Louis van Gaal last season and has subsequently been demoted to the Under-21 squad at Old Trafford, but the former Barça star insists this is wide of the mark.

"Absolutely not,” Pedro was quoted as saying by ESPN. “He spoke very well of the club. It's a great club but I believe I have chosen well to join Chelsea, I'm convinced.
"I had an important chat with [Chelsea coach Jose] Mourinho, who told me that he wanted me, that with me they would have a better team and he said many things that I liked to hear.
"That combined with the possibility to live in London was what made me decide."
Van Gaal has a history of player bust-ups
But Pedro could have been forgiven if he had reservations about joining Manchester United because of the divisive Van Gaal, who has a history of falling out with his players.
Since becoming Manchester United manager in 2014, the veteran Dutch coach has reportedly had bust-ups with Valdes, Angel di Maria, David de Gea and Marcos Rojo.
However, Valdes himself admitted last month that he’s difficult to work with, and Pedro may have felt he could have worked with Van Gaal at Old Trafford without any problem had Chelsea not entered the race for his signature.
Pedro, though, did admit he thought Van Gaal’s treatment of Valdes has been particularly harsh.
"No. It's true that I don't like that treatment for my colleagues, especially for Victor, who has been a reference as a teammate and as a professional,” the 28-year-old added. "I don't believe it's fair but it didn't influence my decision."
