Rey Mysterio and Alberto Del Rio are apparently open to WWE returns

Published 16 Comments

Rey Mysterio left the WWE about six months ago, after years out with injury trouble and a complete lack of direction.

Alberto Del Rio was fired from the company in 2014 by Triple H after attacking a social media manager who made a racially disparaging joke towards Del Rio, about his Mexican heritage.

In a bizarre twist of events, it seems like the two Hispanic stars could be set to make a shocking return to the WWE.

Potential Return?

According to a report from The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there has been tentative talks with the two about potentially re-joining.

The report goes on to add that whilst it doesn't look like the two will be coming back in the near future, that could very well change if the WWE were willing to give them part-time contracts that allows the two to rest.

"In regards to Rey Mysterio and Alberto Del Rio returning to WWE in the future, the mentality right now is they aren't looking to come back to the company," the Observer said.

"They would however consider it if a reduced scheduled was put on the table because they are doing very well right now working whenever they want to."

The piece went on to add that Vince McMahon has always been a big fan of Del Rio - giving him Money in the Bank for example - because of his big build and physique, while Rey Mysterio is one of the biggest luchadores in wrestling history and is a massive fan favorite and merch seller.
