Pogba deal accepted
Chelsea were fairly active during the latter stages of the transfer window, but ultimately failed to complete what would have been one of the biggest deals of the summer.
Italian paper Gazzetta dello Sport today claims that the Blues had an incredible €85million bid for Paul Pogba accepted on August 24th, though the player himself turned down the move after a lengthy discussion with his agent Mino Raiola.
It’s said the contract offer on the table from Roman Abramovich was a huge upgrade on his current €4.5m-a-year deal with Juve, perhaps indicating just how much Chelsea wanted to buy him before the end of the window.
In other news Frank Lampard has said that Petr Cech and Joe Hart are the two toughest goalkeepers he’s ever faced.
We’re not sure if he’s just showing solidarity to former teammates, but it must mean something when Super Frank hails you as a top stopper, particularly as he had a rich record in front of goal whilst in west London.
Pedro on Van Gaal
Last but not least Pedro has confirmed that snubbing Manchester United in favour of Chelsea had nothing to do with Louis van Gaal.
The former Barcelona man did concede that he wasn’t happy with how Victor Valdes was being treated, but that the presence of the Dutchman didn’t factor into his decision this summer.
