Mario Balotelli cast a predictably controversial shadow over Anfield last season, but it appears he’s already putting the disappointment of that campaign behind him.
The Liverpool striker, now on loan at AC Milan, scored on his debut for his new club, even if it was against lowly Mantova in a friendly.
All the same he equalled the tally he notched in the league for Liverpool last year - that coming after claims from Milan president Adriano Galliani that the 25-year-old looks to be a changed man since his Merseyside departure.
Gomez enjoying things
Meanwhile, summer sensation Joe Gomez has revealed he is relishing playing as a full-back under Brendan Rodgers.
The 18-year-old was expected to be a bit-part player this campaign, but has started every game ahead of Alberto Moreno. Gomez also said he wanted to eventually become a centre-back in time.
Last but not least, Danny Ings is fit and raring to go, with the striker having made it known he’s patiently waiting for his starting XI callup to come.
The 23-year-old has had few opportunities to impress thus far and looks to be behind Christian Benteke in the pecking order. If nothing else it gives Rodgers a great option in reserve.
