Judge Richard Berman said Roger Goodell had gone too far in handing a ban to Brady for his supposed role in ‘Deflategate’ controversy, criticising the league commissioner for dishing out his own justice.

Of course Brady has always maintained his innocence on the matter, so he’ll be happy with the outcome.

Gruden on Mariota

In other news Marcus Mariota has been tipped by Jon Gruden to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year award, following his arrival onto the scene with the Tennessee Titans.

The general consensus is that Mariota will become the face of the franchise moving forward, so fans will naturally be happy that former Super Bowl winner Gruden is backing him for big things.

Exum injury

Meanwhile in the NBA the Utah Jazz’s Dante Exum could be out for the season after undergoing surgery to fix a torn ACL.

The 20-year-old sustained the injury last month in a friendly against Slovenia, and the Jazz have confirmed that his surgery was successful, but that he’ll return to Salt Lake City to begin rehabilitation.

That could mean he’ll be missing for the forthcoming campaign, which is an obvious blow to the Jazz.
