Real Madrid president Florentino Perez claims Manchester United showed interest in the quartet of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos during the summer transfer window.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Perez has, however, insisted that the Red Devils did not make a bid in the region of €100 million for Welsh superstar Bale.
United, of course, were also heavily linked with Spanish centre-half Ramos throughout the course of the window, however Perez has insisted that the player was never close to leaving the club.

When asked whether United made a €100m move for Bale, Perez stated: 'No, that is a lie. We know that United showed interest in Bale, [Karim] Benzema and [Raphael] Varane.
"I never saw Ramos leaving this club; he was never close to doing so. Manchester United meddled in the situation.
"Those who want to do harm to Real Madrid meddle but nothing really happened, nothing more than happens every summer."
Let's be honest, it's rather unsurprising that United attempted to secure the signings of the brilliant Real Madrid quartet.
At the end of the day, all four would have only improved Manchester United's squad, as the Red Devils go in search of success under the guidance of Louis van Gaal this season. Ultimately, though, the deals weren't meant to be, but it will surely soften the blow that they still have David de Gea at their disposal...for now.
