Kevin Durant is still a good 10 months away from entering free agency but, as you would expect with a player of his calibre, speculation as to where he might choose to play his basketball next is already building.
With current employers, Oklahoma City Thunder, and home-town franchise the Washington Wizards previously touted as Durant's top two preferences, ESPN reporter Stephen A. Smith has now claimed the 2014 NBA MVP is also considering another option.
According to Smith, Kevin Durant is giving consideration to the New York Knicks at this stage, with current NYC star, Carmelo Anthony, thought to be busy recruiting already.

Smith, speaking on his First Takes show, said:
"I know for a fact that Carmelo Anthony has been and will continue to recruit Kevin Durant until the cows come home. I’m also hearing that Kevin Durant is giving the New York Knicks consideration."
Now, considering the ESPN personality's penchant for hyperbole, his claims must always we taken with a pinch of salt. Having said that, there are certainly reasons to believe Durant is considering New York next summer.
As well as the prospect of playing in a big market, and his friendship with Carmelo Anthony, the fact the Knicks are coached by Derek Fisher - former teammate of KD and a big influence on the superstar - could help in New York's favor.
At this stage though, with so long to go until Durant has to make any sort of decision on his future, it is likely that there are a number of teams the OKC star isn't willing to write off.
If nothing else, this summer's lacklustre free agency period should have taught New York Knicks fans to be wary when a big name is linked to their franchise. It is a far from a done deal, but at least it isn't a rejection.
