Despite the reported fall-out between the two clubs following David de Gea's failed move to the Bernabeu, a high level United source has told the Mirror it will not effect any future business between the two clubs.
Recruiting the 26-year-old former Tottenham Hotspur star is United's number one priority, and they will continue to test Madrid's resolve to keep hold of their world record signing.
The source also believes Ronaldo's reportedly tense relationship with current boss Rafa Benitez could put them in a strong position to resign the three-time Ballon d'Or winner.
SEEMINGLY UNLIKELY - NOT IMPOSSIBLE
United were eyeing up a £65m plus De Gea bid for Bale but the Welshman wanted to stay in Madrid, however the Red Devils are not giving up their chase as they search for a marquee signing.
Real president Florentino Perez claimed United and Ed Woodward lacked experience in the transfer window after the deal for De Gea fell through, but the United source believes the bad-blood between the two clubs can be repaired.
Perez is a huge admirer of Bale and is confident of making the Welsh player a star in Madrid, following an unsuccessful second season.
If United were to prize the 26-year-old from Los Blancos it would surely require an eye-watering fee, but following the Red Devils' links to Neymar, they have the money to get a deal done.
