England manager Roy Hodgson looks to have put to bed any uncertainty concerning how long it will take Danny Welbeck to recover from his current knee injury, expressing fears that the striker won’t be ready in time for Euro 2016. Hodgson’s comments imply that Welbeck’s troubles are far worse than Arsenal have publicly let on, with his information apparently that the ex-Manchester United forward might not be fully fit for another six months. That’s bad news for the Gunners no matter which way you look at it; and it certainly poses another question over Arsene Wenger’s decision not to buy a striker this summer. Sticking with that subject Karim Benzema has confirmed that there was nothing in the transfer rumours linking him with a Real Madrid exit this summer. Arsenal were mentioned frequently regarding the possible purchase of the striker, but he’s now moved to play down such rumours.
