David Beckham wants to become an actor

England's most decorated footballer and inarguably the most popular face in football, David Beckham, is set to hang up his football boots forever and turn his attention to the Hollywood life.

Speaking to the Times, Becks was quoted saying: "I am very aware that many sportsmen and other celebrities have turned their hand to acting and failed.

I know that it is a tough profession, where you need a huge amount of skill and discipline, and I wouldn't want to push myself forward too soon, without learning more about it, and doing a lot more practice.

But what I have done so far, I have loved; I can deal with most things. I am a well-known person, so I have got used to criticism."

Beckham is not only a football icon but a major fashion icon as well, the former England captain was well known for his hairstyles over the course of his playing career in over the course of the 5 major leagues he's played in.

David is also a brand ambassador for H&M, Calvin Klein, Jaguar, Samsung and UNICEF among many others and is also set to launch a clothing line later this year.

Beckham is the only player to have won five league titles in five different countries; given his exploits on the pitch and his worldwide fame off of it.

One can only think that if Becks steps into Hollywood his popularity will only increase more and we would love him even more for that.

We wait eagerly to see what the next step in Beckham's life throws up.
