Liverpool and Arsenal are continuing to scout Real Betis starlet Dani Ceballos as he stalls on a new contract with the La Liga outfit.

A report in The Mirror claims that representatives from both clubs have been keeping tabs on the 19-year-old, who has been likened to Cesc Fabregas.

Ceballos has seen his stock rise astronomically in the last 12 months. First playing a key role for Betis in their bid to win promotion to La Liga, he then did the same with Spain's Under-19 side at this summer's European Championships.

With his contract set to expire next summer, a number of clubs around Europe have been alerted to his availability. Even Spanish juggernauts Real Madrid have been linked with a move.

But both Liverpool and Arsenal are aiming to be at the front of the queue when the January transfer window opens and Arsene Wenger and Brendan Rodgers have told their scouts to continue filing reports.

Release clause

Ceballos has a £7.5million release clause in his contract, but Betis could be forced to sell for significantly less if they do not manage to tie him down to fresh terms.

Alternatively, Ceballos will be eligible to sign a pre-contract in January ahead of arriving next summer. Being under 24 years old, the club he joins will have to pay an arbitrary compensation fee if such an occurrence occurs.

Unless you're an avid fan of Segunda B or international youth football, you are unlikely to have seen much of Ceballos. However, now in Spain's top division, Ceballos has the chance to announce himself as an established European star this season.

Until then, you can enjoy this compilation that has been painstakingly put together by someone, somewhere, somehow.
