Paul Jewell has revealed he had asked not to be considered for the Republic of Ireland job.

The former Wigan manager spoke to Johnny Giles, who is advising the Football Association of Ireland on the successor to Steve Staunton, but wants a return to the club game.

"I rang Johnny yesterday (Thursday) and said after certain consideration, I´m really flattered and decided not to be considered," Jewell told Sky Sports News.
