All Sport: Andy Murray’s shock exit from the US Open

Published Add your comment

Andy Murray crashed out of the US Open after a shock defeat to South Africa’s Kevin Anderson, issuing a number of verbal tirades as frustration took hold. The British No.1 was visibly annoyed at the Louis Armstrong Stadium as he failed to make the quarter-finals of the competition for the first time in five years. In Rugby, Wales will be without star full-back Leigh Halfpenny for the duration of this year’s World Cup. The nation’s worst fears were realised after it was revealed that Halfpenny will sit out through injury, after damaging his anterior cruciate ligament in Saturday’s final warm-up win over Italy. In cricket Andrew Strauss has revealed he believes Kevin Pietersen’s omission has helped England massively. The ECB cricket chief told Pietersen in May that he wouldn’t get an international recall, and said that the clarity was helping the team. Lastly in UFC Conor McGregor has claimed he is on a different level from all other fighters.
