Chelsea captain John Terry has hailed Wayne Rooney on Instagram after the Manchester United skipper became England’s all-time top goalscorer on Tuesday night.

Rooney scored his 50th goal for the Three Lions at Wembley Stadium against Switzerland from the penalty spot - a goal that sent him one clear of the previous record holder, Sir Bobby Charlton.

Shortly after the match, Rooney’s former international teammate took to Instagram to pay tribute to England’s new record goalscorer.
