The euphoric individual in charge of San Marino’s official Twitter account celebrated the team’s first away goal for 14 years on Tuesday night by taking an amusing dig at Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
Matteo Vitaioli sent everyone in San Marino - his teammates, the team’s staff, the supporters, the wider public, everyone - into raptures with his second-half free-kick against Lithuania.

The tweet in question read: “Goals from San Marino in September: 1. Goals from Cristiano Ronaldo in September: 0. San Marino >>>>> Cristiano Ronaldo”.
The tweet went on to record some crazy numbers: almost 10,000 retweets and over 4000 ‘favourites’ since it was published at 10pm last night.
Unusual start to season for Ronaldo

Unfortunately for San Marino, who were beaten 6-0 by England last weekend, they couldn’t hold on to secure what would have been a famous point.
A 92nd-minute winner from Lukas Spalvis broke San Marino hearts at the death - but nobody could take away their away goal.
