The New Orleans Saints, at the time of writing, have just four wide receivers on their roster as we approach opening weekend of the 2015 NFL season.
That could be about to change in the near future however, after reports emerged revealing the Louisiana franchise have been working out a former Giants and Colts wideout looking for work.
As reported by Nick Underhill of The New Orleans Advocate, the Saints are taking a close look at Hakeem Nicks - most recently of the Tennessee Titans.

A former first round pick who enjoyed huge success at the beginning of the decade in New York, Hakeem Nicks has struggled in recent years with injuries limiting his on-field productivity. Still, with only Brandon Cooks, Marques Colston, Brandon Coleman and Willie Snead on their WR depth chart, New Orleans may be willing to take a gamble few others franchises are at this point.
Sean Payton's New Orleans offense is undergoing something of a transition having said goodbye to Kenny Stills and Jimmy Graham in the offseason.
And, although Nicks failed to impress during his time with the Titans in 2015, he could provide a solid veteran option as the franchise pins its hopes on second-year star Cooks. Indeed, only Colston has more than one-year NFL experience amongst Saints receivers.
A key part of the Giants' 2011 Super Bowl success, Nicks has over 5,000 career yards in the NFL and has hauled in 31 touchdowns.
The perception amongst many though is that his career is heading in the wrong direction. If the Saints do take a chance on him they will certainly be getting a player with a point to prove.
