If you were to believe the summer transfer gossip then Jose Mourinho remains a keen admirer of Real Madrid star Raphael Varane. If that’s the case then the Special One will be over the moon with what Varane has had to say about him, with the French youngster describing how Mourinho helped him become the player he is. Varane told France’s Journal on Sunday that the Chelsea boss gave him a ‘kick up the arse’, and said he always hits the right spot. What makes that so interesting is that rumours in the past have suggested Mourinho sees Varane as John Terry’s eventual successor. Coincidentally our next story focuses on Terry himself, as the Blues captain took to Instagram to congratulate Wayne Rooney on breaking Sir Bobby Charlton’s England record. Rooney scored his 50th goal for country last night, with Terry labelling him England’s best ever.
