Cagliari have moved swiftly to replace sacked boss Marco Giampaolo with Nedo Sonetti taking charge of the Sardinians for the third time in seven years.

The Serie A strugglers currently lie joint-bottom of the table with just two wins and nine points from their 11 games. But Sonetti has been in this position with the club before, returning to the rossoblu in November 2005 to steer them to safety.

And the 66-year-old is confident he can pull off the same feat this time around, as he said: "We are last. But with four other teams. And there are another six or seven that will be fighting for safety until the end."
