Bayern Munich held onto their lead in the German Bundesliga despite a 3-1 loss at reigning champions Stuttgart, who continued their march up the table.

Mario Gomez sandwiched two goals (10th and 42nd) around a Yildiray Basturk´s long strike (30th) as Stuttgart collected their third straight victory in the league.

Bayern played the final 20 minutes with 10 men as Lucio was red-carded. But Luca Toni scored a consolation goal in the 86th minute as Munich remained just one point ahead of Hamburg and Werder Bremen with 28 points after their third game without a victory.
