Louis van Gaal has told Manchester United fans that Adnan Januzaj was loaned to Borussia Dortmund for the remainder of the 2015-16 campaign because he wasn't "giving enough to the team".
This is according to Steve Bates of the Mirror, who claims Van Gaal revealed the real reason behind Januzaj's departure to Manchester United season ticket holders at an event at Lancashire Cricket Club on Wednesday.
Van Gaal raised a few eyebrows with his decision to offload Januzaj after the 20-year-old made four appearances at the start of the current campaign and scored the winning goal in last month's 1-0 victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park.

After offloading several of the Red Devils' attacking players - including Robin van Persie, Radamel Falcao and Javier Hernandez - there should have been plenty of opportunities for the versatile Januzaj to play for Manchester United this season.
But Van Gaal, apparently angered by the Belgium international's lack of effort during matches, decided it was in the best interests of both the player and the club to organise a loan move to Borussia Dortmund.
Bizarre decision by Van Gaal
Eighteen minutes into his Dortmund debut, against St Pauli on Tuesday, Januzaj scored his first goal for his new club - prompting Manchester United fans, again, to wonder whether Van Gaal made the right call by loaning out the Belgian.
Time will tell, but for now it looks a bizarre decision by the veteran Dutch coach.
Januzaj is capable of playing on either flank, in the No. 10 position and, according to Van Gaal, as a centre-forward.
There's no doubt he possesses the talent to have made an impact at Old Trafford this season and Van Gaal should have given the gifted youngster the chance to prove it.
