Bastian Schweinsteiger could prove a 'fantastic' signing for Manchester United, according to Arsenal hero Martin Keown.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Keown, who was involved in a question and answer session ahead of the Red Devils' crunch clash with Premier League rivals Liverpool this weekend, claims Schweinsteiger was in tremendous form for Germany against Scotland on Monday night, and believes the former Bayern star will prove his credentials in Manchester sooner rather than later.
Keown has acknowledged, however, that Schweinsteiger isn't the long-term solution for the Red Devils, but claims the experienced midfielder could have a key role to play for the club.

Keown stated: "I think Bastian Schweinsteiger was magnificent for Germany against Scotland and could have a big impact. He is already a top player and could turn out to be a fantastic signing for United.
"He has a real hallmark of quality about him and can run games from midfield. He may not be a long-term solution but he could be a top signing."
Huge role to play
There's no doubt about it, Keown is right: Schweinsteiger really can become a huge player for the Red Devils over the course of the next couple of years. The dynamic midfielder has been one of the leading players in European football for some time, so will only add a great deal to the cause in Manchester.
When he reaches full fitness, the German international will no doubt shine on a consistent basis for United, so expect him to drive the club forward throughout the course of the campaign.
The Red Devils have a number of young and talented players at the club, so Schweinsteiger's experience in the game will only help them develop on English soil.
