Kevin Owens reveals Triple H saved his WWE career by doing this

Published 20 Comments

Kevin Owens is enduring something of a down spell in his young WWE career after effortlessly transitioning from NXT to the main roster courtesy of an epic feud with John Cena earlier this year.

He is currently hovering down the lower end of the priority list on match cards, and there have been rumors that the WWE hierarchy are still to be convinced he has what it takes to make it.

One man who has never needed any convincing of Owens' talents, however, is Triple H. And, speaking this week, Owens himself has revealed how the WWE's head of talent effectively saved his career in one crucial moment.

"He hired me," Owens told the Montreal Canadiens Magazine.

"When I got my chance to be called up to the pros, the story I heard was that four or five people had a say in the decision. The vote was tied at two, and Triple H cast the deciding ballot."

Triple H and Kevin Owens have always had a close working relationship, and this anecdote proves just how indebted the rising Superstar is to the veteran.

Not sporting the typical wrestler's physique, and having had to work extremely hard to convince certain members of the WWE that he is worth a push, Owens is under no illusion that without Triple H's intervention his career could be on a very different path:

"He gave me a chance. I appreciated that he was willing to risk signing me even though I'm not the typical WWE wrestler...The fact that he's in my corner is what counts."

Whether, though, the WWE decision makers all eventually fall in line with Triple H's thinking and give Kevin Owens another push remains to be seen.
