Nurnberg were knocked out of the DFB-Pokal in the second-round stage by second division Carl-Zeiss Jena, ending the defence of the title they won last May.

Joshua Kennedy scored five minutes into extra-time after the game was tied 1-1 at the final whistle, but Robert Muller forced penalties with another equaliser for Jena.

And the minnows held their nerves to win the shoot-out to increase the pressure on Nurnberg coach Hans Meyer, whose side are also struggling in the Bundesliga.
