Angel di Maria has taken a dig at Manchester United by claiming last season was difficult for him - because he had to watch the Champions League on television.
The Argentina international, who left Old Trafford last month after one disappointing season with the Red Devils following his £59.7 million move from Real Madrid in the summer of 2014, has told reporters it was difficult watching Europe’s elite battle it out from the comfort of his living room.
"Last season was difficult for me," Di Maria told French newspaper Le Parisien. "I didn't play much and it was tough to watch the Champions League on television after winning it with Real Madrid."

Not only did Di Maria win the Champions League at the end of the 2013-14 campaign, but the South American produced a Man of the Match display in the final against local rivals Atletico as Real Madrid finally secured ‘La Decima’ - ‘the tenth’ European Cup.
It was a huge surprise, therefore, when Real Madrid agreed to sell the versatile winger to Manchester United off the back of his best season at the Bernabeu.

Di Maria was a disaster at United
But Real Madrid’s decision to accept United’s offer now, in hindsight, looks a very smart piece of business.
Di Maria started his Manchester United career with a bang, but soon fizzled out. A succession of injuries didn’t help, and neither did an attempted burglary at his Prestbury mansion - an event that traumatised his young family.
The Argentine suffered a major dip in form, while his relationship with Louis van Gaal also took a turn for the worse.
Although he could have stayed at Old Trafford and played Champions League football this term, once Paris Saint-Germain came calling he was always likely to end up at the Parc des Princes.
Manchester United subsequently lost a world-class player - but a world-class player who only managed to show glimpses of his brilliance in a red shirt.
