The LA Lakers have completed the signing of 7 foot tall center Robert Upshaw on a multi-year contract, and he will join the team in time to take part in their Hawaii training camp later this month. Upshaw managed 4.5 blocked shots a game prior to his dismissal from the University of Washington’s team last year, and caught the Lakers’ attention after playing five games for their summer league team. One thing’s for sure and that’s that the franchise have to improve. Last term they recorded their worst campaign in their history, having finished 21 for 61. Meanwhile in the NFL, young 49ers running-back Carlos Hyde scored two touchdowns as he and his teammates smashed the Minnesota Vikings 20-3. Ahead of the game all the talk was of Adrian Peterson, but it was Hyde who hogged the limelight, also rumbling for 168 rushing yards.
