Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has admitted that Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez is an important player for the club.

Wenger, who has been speaking ahead of the Gunners' Champions League group stage clash with Dinamo Zagreb tonight, claims Sanchez is key as he 'can create and finish chances' for the north London outfit.

Sanchez enjoyed a remarkable debut campaign on English soil last season, and will be determined to prove his credentials once again at the Emirates.

European struggles

Arsenal have had their difficulties on the European scene for some time now. The Gunners certainly know how to qualify for the competition, but they've struggled to make an impact in recent years.

Wenger has seen his side eliminated at the Round of 16 stage too many times, so the club must buck the trend sooner rather than later.

In truth, despite signing Petr Cech from rivals Chelsea this past summer, there still appears to be a vulnerability about Arsenal. It's clear for all to see that the club possess some of the most exciting and dynamic attacking players in world football, but they're not physically strong enough to compete with the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Co.
