West Ham United fans probably wouldn't be blamed for thinking that their side made one of the signings of the summer.
The Hammers signed French forward Dimitri Payet from French Ligue 1 side Olympique de Marseille for a fee around £11 million and the 28-year old has so far repaid the faith placed in him by the club.
Payet has played in all five of West Ham's Premier League games this season and has managed to establish a regular spot in the first team through a string of impressive performances.

The French international continued his form in West Ham's win over Newcastle United on Monday night, scoring both goals as the Hammers cruised to a 2-0 victory at Upton Park and those goals earned him the praise of his manager Slaven Bilic, who also hailed his exceptional teamwork.
The West Ham boss told Sky Sports: "He's not only a great player that is deciding games, but he makes all players around him play better.
"That is the most important thing you want in a footballer; someone who is not only an individual but a team player."
Payet's quality is something that makes him a very good buy for the Hammers, the Frenchman brings a spark of creativity that West Ham often lacked in recent times, his pace, dribbling and set-piece taking ability are just some of the things that make him a constant threat in attack and a key part of any team.
Payet's creativity was showcased at Marseille last season where he scored seven goals and provided seventeen assists for his side. The forward also created 135 chances for the French club, making it the highest number of chances created by one player in all of Europe's top five leagues, in fact, the Frenchman is so good that Bilic also admitted to trying to buy him last year as manager of Turkish club Besiktas.
"I've known him a long time and I tried to get him to Besiktas last year, but it was impossible. He is the player I really wanted from the start and hoped he would come [but] I didn't believe it would happen."
West Ham's new forward has certainly shown just why his boss was keen to buy him and Bilic will be going to bed with a big smile on his face now that he's finally got his man.
The Premier League's top sides will probably be wondering how they let a player of Payet's quality slip away from them in the summer but West Ham will see their rival's loss as a big win for them but one wouldn't rule out a big swoop from one of them in the near future for the Hammer's new man.
Things have looked good for West Ham so far and with the men in claret and blue looking to push forward with Payet pulling the strings for them, it could be a memorable last season at the Boleyn Ground.
