Victor Valdes has become the latest Manchester United player to send a message of support to Luke Shaw, who suffered a double fracture of the right leg while playing against PSV Eindhoven last night, via social media.
The experienced goalkeeper, who has been ostracised at Old Trafford following a high-profile bust-up with Louis van Gaal last season, wrote: “You will come back on the pitch! I wish you the best for your recovery. Stay strong mate! @lukeshaw23”.
At least 21 members of Manchester United’s squad have taken to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to wish Shaw good luck after his horrendous injury. The England international is still in Eindhoven, where he underwent surgery on his leg last night, according to a statement released by the Red Devils this morning.

A fresh report from the Daily Star’s chief sports writer, Jeremy Cross, claims United are now considering a move for Leeds United full-back Charlie Taylor in January after Shaw’s injury.
The former Southampton starlet is at risk of missing the remainder of the 2015-16 campaign because of the severity of his injury, although the Guardian have optimistically stated that he could return in six months time.
Valdes unlikely to play for United again
Unlike Shaw, Valdes has virtually no chance of playing for Manchester United again.
The former Barcelona star is training with United’s Under-21 squad after his bust-up with Van Gaal and will either leave Old Trafford in January, or as a free agent next summer.
Valdes is reportedly prepared to make the peace with Van Gaal, but the veteran Dutch coach clearly has no desire to listen to the 33-year-old.
