Louis van Gaal expected the night to be tough as his team prepared to clash against the very talented, Eredivisie champions, PSV Eindhoven. However, what van Gaal did not expect was his season's ambitions to be crushed in one night.
United looked lacklustre during the game and fans were all anxiously hoping that the Red Devils could muster up some offense and change the game. However, this all took a turn to the worst when PSV's Hector Moreno viciously tackled Shaw from behind.
In fact, Luke Shaw lasted only 15 minutes in United's Champions' League clash against PSV Eindoven before he was taken off by a stretcher and administered oxygen. It took about eight minutes to get Shaw off the field.

After Shaw's departure, United looked even more unorganised and weaker in the defence. Unfortunately, United's troubles did not end here as it was later confirmed Luke Shaw had broken his leg in two places, potentially sidelining him for the entire season.
Luke Shaw was one of Manchester United's best, most consistent players when he featured last season and has looked even better this season. His performances have also received recognition for the national side, starting England recent Euro 16 qualifiers.

Shaw's injury comes at a devastating cost for both England and Manchester United. With the European Championship around the corner, Roy Hodgson has been given another injury to deal with, blowing a hole in England's defence.
Manchester United suffers even more from the loss of Shaw, as they are now forced to find another fullback to cover for the defensive void which Shaw left. The season does not look bright for United as all departments have been dull, boring and unproductive, and it only gets worse as they lose one of their best defenders.
Luckily Shaw is only 20-years-old meaning that this starlet still has many years ahead of him to develop into a better player after his recovery.The potential in Shaw is endless, let's hope Shaw recovers quickly and comes back even stronger. England and United fans have many more years to look forward too with a healthy Shaw.
