Manchester United officials are reported to have acted in ‘disbelief’ after UEFA made the decision to name Hector Moreno man-of-the-match following the defeat to PSV. It was Moreno’s challenge in the first-half that resulted in Luke Shaw’s double leg fracture - while Louis van Gaal claimed it was a tackle deserving of a red card and penalty. Moreno went on to score the equaliser as PSV recorded a 2-1 victory in Eindhoven, and the Mexican was named man-of-the-match by the European governing body. According to The Independent, Manchester United found the decision ‘strange and disappointing’ following the serious injury sustained by Shaw, who could miss the rest of the season. The England full-back, who was said to be in tears following the injury, underwent surgery on Wednesday in Manchester.
