The way WWE Superstars interact with fans during shows is one of the best parts about the whole business.
However, in recent times there have been a number of incidents in which supposed 'fans' have taken their role in proceedings a step too far.
Indeed, over the past month no less than three events have been disrupted by someone from the crowd bypassing WWE security to cause trouble. And now, speaking on The Wrestling Mayhem Show, one former WWE employee has called for something to be done.
Having spent time as WWE's head of security, Jimmy Noonan ought to know what he is talking about when discussing the issue. His furious response, then, shouldn't go unnoticed:
"It's getting embarrassing," he said. "I'm getting offended by it...you don't get caught three times in one month. If you do, you're f***ing up."
"Somebody is messing up. Not shitting on WWE security, but somebody is making a mistake," Noonan continued.
With Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins all having dealt with fan invasions of varying severity over recent weeks, there is no doubt that the WWE has to clamp down fast before things get out of hand.
In Noonan's eyes, that means only one thing. Somebody has to pay the price for the recent lapses in security:
"I think somebody should be fired. I think if you're security and you mess up, you should be fired. Will they? Probably not."
Whether the WWE moves to increase security in the coming weeks, only time will tell. But, with Dean Ambrose having come within meters of a fan wielding a knife early this month, something has to be done to protect the wrestlers putting their bodies on the line for the business.
