Chelsea have been planning to offer Branislav Ivanovic a 12-month extension to his current contract at Stamford Bridge.
The Daily Mail claims that, despite the player's struggles in the early stages of the campaign, the Blues are set to offer the right-back a new deal to stay on in west London.
Ivanovic's current contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and his long-term future in the game has been the subject of debate in recent time.

After a number of consistent seasons on English soil, the 31-year-old has endured a torrid time of late, and was axed from the Chelsea side that secured a comfortable 4-0 win against Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Champions League last night.
The Mail goes on to claim, however, that the Blues are planning for life without the Serbian ace, with it being suggested that the club are in the market for a new right-back.
Dip in form
Ivanovic still has a great deal to give, and it would be foolish to write him off at this stage. He may no longer be in the prime of his career, but he's still a fine squad player for the Blues in their pursuit of success.
The club's hierarchy are right to search for a long-term successor, however. Ivanovic may well come on strong throughout the course of the season, but he has to be spared on occasions. It's Mourinho's job to take him out of the firing line now and again, so securing the services of another top right-back should become a priority.
