If you ask any Liverpool fan up and down the country what they would consider a successful campaign - you will be sure to receive the same answer: Champions League football and a trophy.
Well winning the Europa League will do both. Just ask Sevilla fans - who won this competition last season and have gone on to make a positive start in this season's Champions League campaign - a 3-0 win in the opening round of fixtures.
Although there seems to be somewhat of a taboo surrounding the Europa League especially by the English teams, it could be Liverpool's saving grace this season.

With just five games gone, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is under serious pressure, with his side looking a million miles from the top four and a team looking void of any real identity.
This game sparked a change in formation, with Rodgers reverting to the 3-man defence that worked in parts last season, in the 1-1 draw with the Ligue1 side.
The primary focus for Brendan Rodgers has been the Premier League, given a number of first teamers sat at home, and rightly so as ultimately that is where Liverpool's season and the manger's future will but judged on.
However, a successful Europa League run could become their saving grace.
