Real Sociedad forward and Mexico international Carlos Vela hinted at an offer from an MLS club during the league's summer transfer window. The club was reportedly “closer to home” for the 26-year-old and seemed to be a tempting offer.
According to ESPN, Vela spoke to Efe News Agency about the offer: “There were various options and they were interesting because some of them would have allowed me to be closer to my country, and those make you have doubts about what you want and what is most appealing, but they didn't come through, and so I am continuing here.”
Vela never mentioned a name of a club or even that it was an MLS club but with the MLS club's spending plenty of money in their last two league transfer windows it does not seem too farfetched.

Fellow international star Giovani dos Santos, who is the same age as Vela, made the move to MLS team LA Galaxy in mid-July.
Dos Santos has two goals and three assists in five appearances. Vela certainly could match the same numbers as the former Tottenham player.
The 26-year-old moved from La Liga club Villarreal for a transfer fee of roughly $7 million. Vela is the same age but presumably rated higher, so a fee for the former Arsenal starlet could be upwards of $10 million which would be one of the largest MLS transfer fees.
Vela to remain in Spain
For now Vela will remain as he says he is “happy”. Responding to the speculation, he said: "that is over, and it is no longer in my hands and I can do nothing about it at this moment."
He will remain at Real Sociedad at least until the January transfer window. However, David Moyes' side has had a poor opening start to the season, picking up just two points after two draws and one loss.
The Mexican has had six shots on goal but is yet to find the net so far this season. Vela is under contract with the Spanish side until the end of 2018 but for the right price, anything can happen.
