Eduard Geyer is out of the running to be the new Energie Cottbus manager after agreeing to join third division side Dynamo Dresden on Tuesday.

Cottbus are searching for a new boss after the sacking of Petrik Sander at the weekend and former coach Geyer, who is a hero in Dresden after guiding the club into the Bundesliga during his first spell in charge, was thought to be one of the favourites to get the role.

Geyer´s apparent snub means reserve-team coach Heiko Weber will be in charge for Wednesday´s clash with Bayern Munich although he is reportedly not keen on taking the job permanently.
