Zlatan Ibrahimovic's self-aggrandisement seems to know no bounds. The Swede has hired the main square in his home city of Malmo for fans to watch his Champions League on his return to the Swedish club.

Paris St-Germain, Ibrahimovic's current club, will play against Malmo in Group E of the Champions League on November 25. Ibrahimovic is Sweden's captain and most decorated player. He has won titles across the continent, with Milan, Ajax, Barcelona and PSG.

Zlatan had this to say of the venture, making this statement on his Facebook page:

"I have previously said that the game will be heard all over Malmo. Now I've also made sure that all of Malmo will be able to watch the game. I'm on my way".

Welcome home

There is poignancy to the occasion for the striker, who began his career at Malmo in 1999. He spent two seasons at the club before joining Ajax. Since then he has not looked back, and he has won three consecutive league titles in France.

The fixture against Malmo is not likely to be remembered as a brilliant match. Malmo should be no match, even at home, for a PSG side fancied to go far in this year's tournament.

PSG have been threatening to break into the semi finals of Europe's premier club tournament for years now, and pundits in the know are sure that it is only a matter of time, with their resources, until they manage it.

Must win

The French side will be keen also to win the fixture to ensure that they set up a favourable draw in later rounds. As group winners, PSG would only face the runners up of another group, which would probably see them avoid favourites such as Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich until the latter stages of the competition.

In any case, Ibrahimovic's plans to hire the main square are a nice touch, if slightly surreal, and he will hope to mark the occasion with a goal.

Do you think even this is a bit too farfetched for Ibrahimovic to do? Give YOUR opinion in the comment box below.
