The Dallas Cowboys could be without quarterback Tony Romo for as long as eight weeks, with scans having confirmed the worst regarding his suspected fractured collarbone.
According to a report published on NFL.com, Romo’s broken clavicle could keep him away from the field for as long as two months, although he may be able to practice after six weeks.
The Cowboys themselves are expecting to learn more about the situation when Romo is re-assessed today, though Brandon Weeden will now be expected to take over for the 35-year-old moving forward.
Bills v Brady
Meanwhile, fans of the Buffalo Bills took a hilarious shot at Tom Brady at the weekend, with a billboard having been put up that read ‘Mr. Brady is so shady. Deflates balls and acts like a baby.’
We’re not quite sure what Brady made of the offering, but it’s safe to say it has caught the attention of the mass media. The New England Patriots had the last laugh on the matter, beating the Bills 40-32.
Barnes extension offer
Across to the NBA, and Golden State Warriors forward Harrison Barnes has been offered an initial four-year, $64million contract extension.
It’s believed the Warriors’ opening gambit, which equates to $16m-a-year, wasn’t accepted, but it marks the start of negotiations that might run until October 31. The offer comes as the Warriors attempt to prevent Barnes from reaching restricted free agency in mid-2016.
Timberwolves announce signings
In other news, the Minnesota Timberwolves have announced the signings of center Kleon Penn and guard Nick Wiggins.
It’s believed Penn, who most recently played his basketball in Puerto Rico, will wear No. 50, while Wiggins, who featured for the Timberwolves in the Summer League, will don No. 6.
