The Seattle Seahawks are in desperate need of some positive news as they head into week three of the season in the midst of a three-game losing streak dating back to Super Bowl XLIV.

Wednesday morning has brought exactly that after Stephen A. Smith revealed a text message he had received from Kam Chancellor, the team's star safety, who has been holding out in search of a new contract.

Text confirmation

As relayed by ProFootballTalk, Chancellor has officially ended his self-imposed exile from the franchise and is returning to the Seahawks fold today - citing one teammate in particular when explaining his decision.

“Ima go help my teammates that are understanding of my position and the ones who aren’t. God forgives all, why can’t i? Time to help us get back to the big dance," read Chancellor's message.

"I can address business after the season. Me and Marshawn [Lynch] started a mission 2 years ago. I can’t let my Dawg down….Real talk.”

Chancellor began his holdout at the start of the offseason in the hope of securing a contract extension.

On hold

But, after accruing what is believed to be around $2 million in team fines for staying away, it looks like Seattle's disappointing start to the 2015 season has led him to put aside his contract demands.

And, although it doesn't look like the star is totally satisfied, with the team 0-2 heading into this weekend's game against the Chicago Bears, Seattle will be delighted to have one of their defensive leaders back on the roster.

Whether Chancellor, who has been keeping in shape away from the team's practice facility this summer, will be ready to suit up for the game remains to be seen.
