Will Ronda Rousey accept this $100,000 challenge from sexist ex-UFC star?

Ronda Rousey, as the most successful female fighter in the world, is no stranger to being called out by those who want to see her toppled from her perch.

The latest challenge sent her way, however, is a little different. Rather than hearing from one of her female counterparts, Rousey has been challenged by former UFC star David 'Tank' Abbott.

Offensive offer

Appearing on the Proving Ground podcast, Abbott put $100,000 on the line in a fight proposal that, thanks to its sexist tone, might actually interest the Queen of the fighting business.

During a discussion about a hypothetical match between Rousey and now-retired boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather, Abbott laid down his proposal:

"I will fight any woman on this Earth for free,” he explained. “If I win, which is going to happen—and you’re going to get bashed up good—you have to make me a sandwich. If you win, I’ll give you $100,000.”

As if Abbott's archaic beliefs weren't confirmed, the 50-year-old added one final stipulation:

"You can't be a tranny...you gotta be a female. Born a female.”

Fighting inequality

Ronda Rousey, in her back-and-forth with Floyd Mayweather this year, has made it clear how she feels about men who treat women as the weaker sex - famously making reference to Mayweather's checkered history with domestic abuse during her ESPY acceptance speech.

So, whilst a $100,000 fight purse wouldn't usually grab her attention, the UFC superstar might be half tempted to put Abbott in his place this time around.

Especially with the former fighter stating his belief, in the same interview, that women aren't suited to the fighting business because they "have to deal with the emotional stuff."

To date, Tank Abbott has lost 15 times as a professional fighter. His words this week will have plenty of fans hoping number 16 is right around the corner.

UFC fans: Would Rousey get the W versus Abbott, and can anyone stop her right now? Have your say in the comments below...
