Lyoto Machida has opted not to take another fight this year and is instead taking some time to rest and regroup.
The current middleweight contender suffered two defeats in 2015. Middleweight number one contender Luke Rockhold beat Machida convincingly in April before Yolo Romero brutally TKOd the Brazilian on June 27 at UFC Fight Night 70.
The former light heavyweight champion has had surgeries in the aftermath of each of his last three fights, including nasal surgery days after his fight with Romero, and, therefore, has decided to take some time off from MMA.

Machida has insisted however that he isn't leaving for a long period of time and is hoping to be back in action for early 2016 - his next fight already being speculated on.
On Wednesday's edition of UFC tonight, MMA Journalist Ariel Helwani reported that Machida (22-7) wants a piece of Michael Bisping.
According to "The Dragon," Machida has nothing against the British mix martial artist but believes it's the right fight at the right time.
Bisping, who was co-hosting UFC tonight, replied to the challenge and said he too was interested in the fight.:
"A matchup between me and him is certainly something I'd be interested in," Bisping said. "I have a lot of respect for him."
Machida hopes to return to action in early 2016, and with the UFC deciding to "GO BIG" with their new seasonal campaigns, he'll be aiming to be on the UFC's fight cards for January, February or March.
